Purple martin house-builder builds one more

It was time to retire 18 years ago, that’s why Gord Oleksuk built a purple martin house. It was something to do. More than 100 purple martin houses later, he’s still building them in the little shop beside his house at the junction of Highway 10 and 25, sometimes called Glanton Corner. At 81 Gord says he still has a few left to build. Gaby, his wife, is fine with that for now but next winter she’d like to be living in Brandon – and the shop may be just a memory.

Wheatland Zone LWML

On Saturday, April 23, 2016 the Wheatland Zone Spring Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Renewal was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Plumas, Manitoba. Registration was from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Rev. James Vosper did the opening devotion centered on the theme for the renewal: “How great is the love of the Father.” 1 John 3:3.

Like it or not, the rodeo lifestyle has been etched in the mind and soul of a Rivers grade 12 student for quite some time, thanks to cousins’ involvement prior to his sister joining the Junior Division of the Manitoba High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) when that youngster was seven.

The McCreary Travel Club

Nearly two years ago, a group of students, parents and school staff gathered together in McCreary School to discussed potential destinations for their second community trip. The choice that was made proved to exceed the expectations of all of those who went on the trip. An excited group of 15, including students, educators and adults, signed up for a trip of a lifetime to various destinations in Italy and Greece.
