Neepawa and Area 4-H Beef Club

At the Neepawa and Area 4-H beef Club’s third meeting, Tim Baker paired the junior, intermediate and senior members up into groups of two. He then gave each group a topic to talk about. Some of the topics were: Your biggest cattle show attended; the best place you’ve gone on summer vacation; where you go to buy show supplies; where to get the best pizza and your favorite sports team. We were given five minutes to write our thoughts on the topic and then present them as a group.

Armstrong's War coming to Westman

The next production in the Kaleidoscope Concert series will be the Manitoba Theatre Centre’s touring production “Armstrong’s War”. It’s coming to the Roxy Theatre in Neepawa on Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Minnedosa mayor pleased with response from rec centre forum

Just under 100 people attended a public forum in Minnedosa on Monday, Jan. 26, to learn more about the construction of a proposed regional events centre. The project has been in the works since 2009 and would include a new hockey arena that will replace the existing ice rink, which was built in 1947.

Neepawa Chamber looks to past and future

Thanks to some successful events last year, the Neepawa and District Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting, held last week, was cause for optimism.  Held over the lunch hour last Thursday, about 23 people attended the meeting to hear about the organization’s activities in 2014 as well as plans for the upcoming year.

Live curling on WCG channel 12

Loyal viewers of WCG-TV Rivers Channel 12 will know that Brandon’s Super League curling games are aired every Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. That league ended for another season on Jan. 25 (be sure to tune in again next October for the 2015-16 season), but curling is not yet completed. Our fibre connection with the head office in Brandon allows us to air live coverage of this year’s Safeway Championship Curling (as well as many other live events). Those who subscribe to television services in Rivers through Westman Communications Group will be able to watch some great curling from the comfort of their own home!
