Palliative care to host hike

On Sunday, June 12 Rivers palliative care organization (newly re-named Riverdale Palliative Care) will be holding its annual Hike for Hospice Palliative Care. This event is sponsored by Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA), whose mission is the pursuit of excellence in care for persons approaching death so that the burdens of suffering, loneliness and grief are lessened.

A cut for kids

Four-year-old Summer Gillis of Rivers did not really enjoy having such long hair so rather than toss the tresses, parents Brandon and Skye Gillis decided to recycle them. Following a May 14 trip to Hair Dynamics, stylist Melissa Baranyk cut a 12-inch pony tail from Summer which was shipped to Angel Hair for Kids in Mississauga, Ont.

Debt-free construction at Rivers Library

A construction update occurred recently to the interior of Prairie Crocus Regional Library in Rivers. It involved joining the two storage rooms to make a wheelchair-accessible main floor washroom. Ramsay Construction was the main contractor and he enlisted B&G Electric and Gill’s Plumbing & Heating to assist; all companies are from Rivers.
