Chris MacDougall is biking across Canada to fundraise for and raise awareness of cancer research.
On Aug. 12, MacDougall passed through Neepawa on his ride from Vancouver, BC, on the west coast, to St. John’s, NL, on the east. He started his ride on July 24 and now passing through Neepawa, he’s well over 2,000 km into it, with over $92,000 raised.

It’s wonderful to live in a town with young people (some older too) who seem happy to assist us older grandmas crossing the street, or struggling in and out of stores with our walkers.

80 years ago, Friday, August 21, 1936
A hundred children and 60 adults attended the Home Welfare Picnic at Riverbend Park Wednesday afternoon. The weather was fine for the outing and altogether, the affair was a great success. There were all kinds of games and amusements for everybody.

Thursday, Aug. 11 marks the conclusion of another incredibly successful Miracle Treat Day. Held at Dairy Queens across Canada, Miracle Treat Day is a fundraising event that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. The proceeds of every Blizzard sold are donated to the Children’s Miracle Network.
