A nice crowd showed up at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Canada 150 walking path project. The path and amphitheatre are located at the Flats, in Neepawa.

The opening season win streak for the Neepawa Natives has ended at three games, after a 4-2 loss to the Portage Terriers on Saturday, Sept. 30. The opening period of this showdown, which was played at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, saw a massive offensive effort put forward from both sides.

Since I moved to Manitoba, September has been one of my favorite months of the year. The bugs have disappeared, except maybe for the odd fly. The mornings and evenings are cool, but the days are mostly bright and sunny.

I don’t remember how old I was when this happened; but I remember the day very vividly. Two days earlier, we had heard of a traffic accident involving one of our local truckers. He had lost control of his rig on a steep hill, had rolled it and then slid down the hill. The tractor of the unit he rolled was a single-axle GMC tilt cab. When I saw how badly damaged the unit was, I was amazed that he had managed to walk away from that accident with only few cuts and bruises.
