Mike McEwen and Rob Fowler remain alive at the Safeway men's provincial curling championship in Neepawa.

Draw 14 saw McEwen of Fort Rouge defeat Terry McNamee of Brandon 8-1, while defending champion Rob Fowler beat Scott Ramsay of Granite 10-4.

McEwen started out strong by scoring a deuce in the first end and proceeded to steal a single in the second. McNamee would come back, taking a single in the third end to stay in the game. However it was not meant to be for McNamee as McEwen would soon take the game over by scoring a deuce in the fourth, a single in the fifth and a deuce in the sixth for the win.

Fowler meanwhile, was in a tight battle with Ramsay until the seventh end. With a plethora of Fowler rocks in play, Ramsay needed to draw to the button for a single to stay in the game but instead threw too much weight with his last rock and allowed Fowler to steal five and take the win.

McEwen and Fowler will now play each other in the 3 vs 4 page playoff game tonight at 6:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinal, which will be played tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Jeff Stoughton will battle Sean Grassie in the 1 vs 2 page playoff game as well tonight. The winner will advance to the championship final, while the loser will take on the winner of McEwen/Fowler in the semifinal.
