Safeway Championship update: Draw 6 wraps up

Draw 6 has concluded at the Safeway Championship in Neepawa.

No. 1 seed Jeff Stoughton of Charleswood defeated Trevor Loreth of West Kildonan 9-2 in seven ends.

Stoughton opened the match with a pair of deuces in the first and second ends and scored another in the fourth for a commanding 6-1 lead. He then finished the game with a triple in the seventh, which resulted in the two teams shaking hands.

No. 2 seed Mike McEwen was also successful, defeating Jared Kolomaya of Stonewall by a score of 10-6.

Other Draw 6 winners were Dave Elias of West St. Paul, Dennis Bohn of Assiniboine Memorial and Sean Grassie of Deer Lodge.

A-side qualifying games set

The A-side qualifier games have been set and will take place at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Stoughton will take on Dave Elias, while McEwen will play Dennis Bohn.

Rob Fowler meanwhile, will play Sean Grassie, while Terry McNamee will take on Steen Sigurdson, who upset William Lyburn's rink earlier today.

Draw 7 is set for 4 p.m. today, while Draw 8 will take place at 7:45 p.m.
