Draw 1 of the Safeway men's provincial curling championship is complete in Neepawa.

Three time provincial finalist Mike McEwen was able to pick up his first victory, defeating Geoff Trimble of Gladstone 8-3 in seven ends.

McEwen led from start to finish scoring two in the first end and stole two in the third end en route to a 5-0 lead after five ends. He would then take three points in the sixth end for the commanding lead.

Along with McEwen, Bob Sigurdson (West Kildonan), Dennis Bohn (Assiniboine Memorial), Daley Peters (West Kildonan) and Jared Kolomaya (Stonewall) all won their first games of the championship and have advanced in the A side.

Draw 2 action will have both Neepawa rinks in action. Kelly Robertson will battle Steen Sigurdson of Fort Rouge, while Jerry Chudley's rink will take on David Kraichy (also of Fort Rouge).
