A solid seven inning effort by pitcher Garett Rempel helped to lead the Neepawa Cubs to their first win of the Santa Clara Baseball League season. Rempel allowed just four hits and no runs in Neepawa’s game on Sunday, May 29 against the Ebb and Flow Lakers, as the Cubs claimed a 2-0 victory. He aided his own cause by also going 1-for-3 at the plate with one run. Teammates Ian Kerkowich and Cody Pasowisty also contributed by driving in an RBI apiece.

The victory improved Neepawa’s record to 1-1 on the SCBL season. The Cubs have a busy week ahead of them, as they played a road matchup against Austin on Wednesday, June 1.  Neepawa follows that up with three games at home. The first is Friday, June 3 versus the Portage Padres. That’s followed by a Wednesday,  June 8 showdown with the Plumas Pirates and then a rematch with their opening day opponent, the Minnedosa Mavericks on Friday, June 10. All those games are scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time.
