Tigers top Broncos

The Neepawa Tigers have picked up their first win of the season, earning a 3-2 shootout victory over the Boissevain Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Yellowhead Centre. 

The game remained scoreless in the opening period, though the Broncos would pick up a pair of goals in the second, while Neepawa’s Braden Gillies replied back with a single, to make it 2-1 for Boissevain after 40 minutes. 

Before the end of third period, the Tigers tied things up, as Ben Rainka scored and sent the game into overtime. This showdown would end up going to a shootout and would see Rainka end the evening by posting the game winner for the Tigers.

Earlier in the week, Neepawa dropped a 7-4 decision to the Minnedosa Chancellors on Thursday, Nov. 26 in Minnedosa.

The first period proved to be a slow start for both teams, though each side was able to score once, to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes.

In the second, the offensive output kicked up a notch, with six goals registered, making  it 4-4 heading into the final period of play.

In the third, it was Minnedosa who was able to take over control of the game, adding three more goals to the score sheet and securing the 7-4 victory for the Chancellors.
