MJHL notes: Terriers acquire Laforest, Cooney

The Portage Terriers were active on the trade front recently.

The MJHL club acquired 19-year-old goaltender Justin Laforest and forward Stephen Cooney, 19, from the Carleton Place Canadians for future considerations.

McGlynn off to St. Paul

Meanwhile, the Steinbach Pistons announced that defenceman Kerry McGlynn has committed to the Hamline University NCAA Division III program in St. Paul, Minn.

McGlynn helped the Pistons rank in the CJHL’s top 20 for the first time this past season and make the MJHL playoffs for the second consecutive year. He totalled two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 58 games while totalling 65 penalty minutes with the team.
