Farmers snap lengthy losing streak

The Neepawa Farmers snapped an l1-game losing streak on Wednesday night, defeating the Brandon Cloverleafs 5-3 in Manitoba Senior Baseball League action at Andrews Field.

With the score tied at two apiece, the Farmers scored once in the seventh and twice more in the eighth en route to the win.

Bryce Stephenson went 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring twice, while Daylon Creasy added a run and an RBI for the Farmers, who now sit with a 2-11 record.

Josh Loewen picked up the win on the mound for Neepawa, allowing two runs on 10 hits while striking out five batters in six innings of work. Garett Rempel, who also scored a run in the contest, earned the save on the bump for the Farmers, going three innings, allowing four hits and a run.

Cloverleafs pitcher Zach Steckler took the loss, allowing six hits and five earned runs over eight innings. Matt Mutcheson came in and pitched the ninth for the ’Leafs, who now sit with a 14-3 record.

Derek Chapman, Matt Gunning and Casey Clark all had two hits and an RBI each for Brandon in the loss.
