Manitoba's official opposition says its lawsuit against the province's sales tax hike will be heard in court next month.

Brian Pallister, the leader of the Progressive Conservative party, says a date has been secured in court after a lawsuit was filed earlier this year.

Pallister and the PCs are standing up for taxpayers in an attempt to reverse the government's decision to raise the tax from seven to eight per cent.

Meanwhile, the provincial government says they've taken all the necessary legal steps needed in order to raise the tax in order to pay for infrastructure costs.

The province changed a law last year which eliminates the need for a referendum regarding all sales tax increases.

The hearing is set for June 4.
