One of my tasks and duties as an editor is to read a lot. I am fortunate that I can read a large number of documents each week, both online and hard copy. They number in the dozens, if not hundreds. With that in mind, I come across a lot of documents that claim to be factual. I am particularly drawn to ones that are often punted to the sidelines or ignored by the corporate media.

At the recent Washington Press Gallery Dinner, comedian Trevor Noah gave a very funny address. He made fun of every news agency and personality he could think of. He made fun of President Biden. Most people laughed. President Biden laughed, at everyone else but importantly, he laughed at himself.

As winter loosens its grip on our surroundings and our lives, it's time to to have spring and summer. It's also time to think about fall and with this upcoming fall we will be having municipal and school board elections. As I have said many times, the most important level of government is local government.

Right in the Centre – It never seems to end

We are being plagued with problems that never seem to end. The latest is winter. Last week's big snow and blow was a blockade to what we assumed might be a normal spring. As this column is being written on Tuesday morning, two more storms are in the forecast. Seems like crop seeding and gardening will have to wait for a while longer.

The problems my wife Christine and I had last year with health issues gave us the opportunity to learn new things about our own health and the Manitoba health care system. We have mostly recovered and we are both very thankful. Generally speaking, our health care system is amazing. Sometimes we have delays, especially compared to the United States, but nonetheless, we have an amazing system.
