Observation: One of my hopes

One of my hopes in life has been that I would be able to sleep in in the mornings. No more getting up to make lunches and get the family off to school and work.

After I became a widow, there were still lunches to pack and children to send off to school and work. Maybe when the children were grown up and on their own...

Then I married a farmer. Farmers live with an early alarm clock every workday. Farmers do not retire. They work until their bodily strength gives out and someone else has to take over.

This week, I suddenly realize that now I am able to sleep in every morning. The alarm clock does not ring that early any more. I have trusted in the Lord and now He has given me the desire of my heart as it says in Psalm 37:4.

I thank the Lord for giving us this joy together in the autumn of our lives.
