Observation: Horror stories

The last few weeks we heard some horror stories on the news. A plane is missing with more than 200 people on board; a mudslide kills about 100 people. There are countries that are threatened by an oppressor.

A big storm hit the east coast of Canada with limited visibility. People are told to stay in their houses because it’s too dangerous to go outside. When will we be getting some spring weather is daily on our minds?

Psalm 33 was addressed in our daily devotions where it says in verse 11 that “the counsel of the Lord stands forever.” It does not matter what happens or where it happens, because “from His dwelling place He looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth” (Psalm 33:14). We know that He is our “Help and our shield” (verse 20).

Then we can say with David, the writer of the Psalms “Our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name” (verse 21).

May the joy of the Lord be our strength this week.
