myWestman.ca Brandon University men's volleyball head coach Russ Paddock announced the commitment of Brendan White to the men’s volleyball program at Brandon University.
White, a 6-foot-8 outside/middle from Brisbane, Australia will arrive in Brandon on Sept. 8. “I am excited to join the Bobcats volleyball team and improving my game,” said White. “I have never been out of Australia and have heard great things about Canada so I can't wait. I am looking forward to working hard on and off the court and having a good season”. White is the third Australian recruit to join the Bobcats this season. He joins countrymen Fred Marsh and Craig Lowe as rookies making the transition from down under to Manitoba. The trio joins returning CIS player of the year Paul Sanderson to make a total of four players from Austrailia on the Bobcats’ roster. White is leaving the Queensland Academy of Sport where he has trained for the last three years. He was a member of a number of state teams and also a major part of the Queensland Pirates volleyball team for the last three years. White was ranked best attacker and the second best blocker in the Australian Volleyball League last season. "Brendan is going to bring us valuable depth as he has played and trained in all attacking positions," said Paddock. “He will be another key piece to the puzzle for our team this season.” The men’s volleyball team will kick off the 2010-2011 exhibition season on Oct. 1 as they host the Super 8 Tournament. The Bobcats Canada West conference season starts on Nov. 12 as they travel to Saskatoon to take on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. BU Press Release |
