Ag Days set to take place in Brandon |

myWestman.ca The 35th annual Manitoba Ag Days is set to take place in Brandon at the Keystone Centre, Jan. 17-19. Ag Days -- which is a non-profit organization that survives on the revenues from exhibitor fees and sponsorship -- is a free exposition of agricultural production, technology and equipment which attracts exhibitors and visitors from across Canada and the United States. myWestman.ca  Drew Jacob Bartel is the first baby born at Neepawa Hospital on Jan. 9, 2012. Mom and dad were pleased to accept the gift of a quilt from Beverly Dean, president of the Tangled Threads Quilt Guild. The quilt was specially made for the new year’s baby by guild member Daphne Hall. Drew will be welcomed home to Riding Mountain by his sister and four girl cousins. Photo submitted |

Krzyzaniak and Team Canada win gold |

myWestman.ca Neepawa's Halli Krzyzaniak and her Canadian teammates won the gold medal at the world women's under-18 hockey championship on Saturday. Canada blanked the United States 3-0 at PSG Arena in the Czech Republic. With the win, Canada finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. Canada and the United States have met in the final at all four previous championships. The Americans won gold on three occasions while Canada’s other title came in 2010.
Brandon product Ashleigh Brykaliuk was also a member of the team.

Manitoba private sector adds 17,300 jobs in past 12 months |

myWestman.ca  The outdoor skating rink at the Flats in Neepawa was a busy place throughout the holidays. Taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather were skaters of all ages. Throughout Neepawa, there are lots of winter activities including skiing, tobogganing and snow shoeing, available for those who want to get outdoors this winter. |
