MJHL hazing investigation concluded: suspensions to former Natives' coach and assistant extended |

myWestman.ca An independent investigator has concluded his investigation into a hazing complaint levied against the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Neepawa Natives. Suspensions to the Natives’ former head coach Bryant Perrier and assistant coach Brad Biggers have been lengthened. Perrier's suspension will be until April 1, 2012, while Biggers' suspension will be until July 1, 2012. The suspensions are effective in all Hockey Canada jurisdictions. For more, click here. |

RCMP investigates parole violation |

myWestman.ca On Aug. 2, 2011 Thomas Gordon Bear was released on parole from Saskatchewan Penitentiary where had been serving a 45-month sentence. Bear walked away from his half-way house on Sept. 19, 2011, and a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued. Bear is a known member of the native syndicate and has numerous tattoo's, including the words "native syndicate" on his forearms. He is 6-feet tall, approximately 200 pounds, with long dark hair. He is considered violent and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Elphinstone RCMP at 204-625-2090, or your local police agency. |

More than 1,000 fans pack Yellowhead Centre to enjoy free admission game |

myWestman.ca It was a packed house at the Yellowhead Centre in Neepawa on Friday night. More than 1,000 people watched the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Neepawa Natives defeat the Swan Valley Stampeders 4-3 on free admission night. The game wrapped up hazing awareness week, a week-long event which included a 50/50 draw, Natives players taking part in road hockey games at the local schools and coaches going around town to meet the business community.
