Canada West unveils basketball pre-season coaches poll; Bobcats men's team ranked 11th

The Canada West released its first coaches poll of the season on Monday and neither of the Brandon University Bobcats basketball teams cracked the top 10.

The BU men's team is ranked 11th out of the 16 teams with 95 vote points.

The team finished sixth in the Prairie Division at 7-13 last season and missed the playoffs.

UBC is ranked first with 250 points, while Alberta is in second place with 248 points.

Meanwhile, the BU women's team was ranked last out of the 16 teams.

Last season, the Bobcats missed the playoffs after going winless in the regular season with an 0-20 record. The club however posted a 5-4 record this pre-season.

Regina was ranked first, finishing with 13 of 16 first-place votes.

Both Bobcat squads will begin the regular season on Friday night in Edmonton against the Alberta Golden Bears.
