The 2012 Volleyball Manitoba graduating all-star banquet took place this past weekend and one player with Neepawa roots was honoured at the event.

Proud Grandparents Ron and Joan Gray of Neepawa travelled to Winnipeg to enjoy the banquet with Taylor and watch her play in the 4A provincial all-star game.

Taylor Gray, who is an imposing 6-foot-2 middle hitter for Vincent Massey Collegiate (Winnipeg) is the daughter of former Tigers sports team member and Kem Frampton amateur athlete of the year winner Bryan Gray, who graduated from NACI in 1983.

In addition to her being voted by coaches to participate in the annual all-star game, Gray was also honoured as an All-Manitoba first team all-star.

Gray, who has played volleyball since Grade 7, trains with former Canadian national and Olympic volleyball team coach Mike Burchuk.

Taylor has received volleyball scholarship offers from various universities in Canada and the USA and plans to make a decision sometime soon.

There were several other Westman volleyball players who were named graduating all-stars, including Shoal Lake's Natasha Rupa and Rivers products Jodi Lepp and Eleanor Hyndman who were named to the A/AA/AAA girls all-star team.

Meanwhile, Brandon's Jordan Laroque and Theo Farrough (both from Neelin), Pilot Mound's Bret Pearce and Robin Park, Glenboro's Jeff Schwarz and Elton's Taylor Cross were some of the players named to the A/AA/AAA boys all-star team.
