Neepawa leisure services manager Amanda Novak believes things are headed in the right direction regarding the town's skateboard park.
At a recent town meeting, skateboard enthusiasts and anyone else with interest in the park were invited to attend and discuss ideas on what exactly to do with the current park, which is in rough shape.
Despite low attendance numbers at the meeting, Novak says the few people that did show up were
very optimistic. She says Wanda Eisner has agreed to stay on as the chairperson of the Neepawa Skateboard Park Association, while constable Clayton Feeke has volunteered to assist in any way possible and will be trying to recruit additional members and volunteers.
"We want to create a park for our youth that is accessible -- free of charge -- as well as keep them engaged," Novak said. "We have several things in the works moving forward."
Novak encourages everyone with interest in the park to attend the next meeting, which is Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Town office board room.
The skateboard park in Neepawa is located just north of the RCMP station.
