Grassie wins mixed provincial curling championship

Sean Grassie of Deer Lodge won this year's mixed provincial curling championship on Monday afternoon in Carman.
Grassie defeated Corey Chambers of Pembina 10-4 in eight ends to win the event. Grassie and his team will go on to represent the province at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, Nov. 25-30 in Ottawa.
Grassie was the 2010 Canadian mixed champion and earned a bronze at that year's World mixed doubles event.
Grassie and his team of third Tracey Lavery, second Scott McCamis, and lead Callen Friesen earned their way to the final by defeating Chambers 8-3 in the 1 vs 1 page playoff Sunday evening, while Chambers defeated defending champion Terry McNamee of Brandon 9-4 in the semi-final Monday morning.
