Robertson, Tuivai named BU athletes of the year

Meaghan Robertson and Sam Tuivai were big winners at Brandon University's annual Bobcats year-end awards banquet on Monday night.

Robertson, a third-year middle on the Bobcats women's volleyball team and graduate of Brandon's Crocus Plains High School, was named the female athlete of the year.

She was one of only three on her team to play in all 22 of the Bobcats matches this season, leading the team in attack efficiency (.294), and finishing second on the team in stuff blocks (14) and total blocks (64).
 
Tuivai meanwhile, a second-year left-side product of New Zealand on the Bobcats men's volleyball team, was named the male athlete of the year.

He led not only the Bobcats, but also the Canada West conference in kills per set (4.35) and points per set (4.89).
 
Team MVP's from each of the four programs at BU are Jordan Reaves of the men's basketball team, Chantel Gaslard of the women's basketball team, Kellie Baker of the women's volleyball team and Tuivai of the men's volleyball team.
