New program has RHA CEO excited |

By: Kate Jackman-Atkinson myWestman.ca The Parkland Regional Health Authority recently welcomed their second physician assistant, Theresa Unger, who will work out of the McCreary/Alonsa Medical Clinic. Parkland RHA CEO Kevin McKnight says that he's “really excited” about the expansion of the physician assistant program to include primary care and says, “It's a nice model to build on.”

Community Futures Parkland to hand out awards |

myWestman.ca Community Futures Parkland will be handing out five awards that will total $1,500.00. Each award amount of $300.00 will be donated to the volunteer and they, in turn, will give the contribution to the charity or community project of choice that is located within the Parkland. In addition to receiving the cash, the volunteers will be presented with a certificate of appreciation.

The bill’s full name is “An Act To Enact The Investigating And Preventing Criminal Electronic Communications Act And To Amend The Criminal Code And Other Acts” and it goes by the short name of “Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act”.

Neepawa says no to modular home |

By: Kate Jackman-Atkinson myWestman.ca At their Jan. 24 council meeting, the Town of Neepawa council rejected a variation application for FCP Smart Builders/Terry McDowell relating to a modular home on James Bay. The variation would have allowed the required modular home width of 26 feet to be reduced to 20 feet and the modular home area of 1,000 square feet be reduced to 880 square feet.

Waddell wins Neepawa byelection |

By: Kate Jackman-Atkinson myWestman.ca On Feb. 28, Neepawa voters elected Ken Waddell as the Town’s new mayor and Allan Drysdale at the Town’s new councillor. Waddell received 644 votes while candidates Bob Durston and Murray Parrott received 368 votes and 297 votes respectively.
