In May 2014 a group of community partners came together to begin discussing health and well-being issues in Rivers. There were many thoughts and ideas shared around the table. The discussion was lively and many interesting perspectives were shared. We discussed healthy eating, bullying, literacy, getting more active, end of life care issues and the list continued.

Elementary school to see expanded gymnasium

The Pine Creek School Division announced last week plans to move ahead with the long awaited expansion of the Gladstone Elementary School gymnasium.  Division superintendent Brian Gouriluk explained that the board has been talking about this project for close to 20 years and the timing was right this year to make the expansion a reality. In this coming year’s budget, the division created a reserve fund to designate funds for the project.

Now preparing for its 33rd annual production, My Fair Lady, Strathclair Drama Club has provided audiences with the opportunity to see Broadway musicals without having to travel very far. For the past two and a half months, members of Strathclair Drama Club cast have been meeting once or twice a week to memorize lines and music, learn choreography and staging, and try on costumes.

ALUS returns to Manitoba

The program Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) had its beginnings in Manitoba in the RM of Blanshard. ALUS was a conception of Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) and Delta Waterfowl Foundation.
