Postal disruptions and paper delivery

Due to the impending strike/lockout at Canada Post some rural lock box locations could not get their July 8 Neepawa Banner. This amounted to about five per cent of our papers.
We have placed extra copies of the Neepawa Banner at our drop off locations in Neepawa to help compensate.

Sylvia Maloney on the run

Sylvia sure can run, and while pushing a grocery cart too! That’s Sylvia Maloney of Rivers, who won the grand prize in The Grocery People (TGP) $600,000 Fresh Giveaway contest. The six-week promotion began April 30 at all TGP stores (Bigway Foods and Super A Foods) and included weekly $25 gift cards and a 50-second shopping spree.

Kenton celebrates Canada Day

It was another busy July1 in Kenton on a beautiful summer day. The day started off with a delicious pancake breakfast at Kenton Memorial Hall, catered by Kenton United Church. People registered after breakfast for the annual Kenton Lions Club car rally. During a wonderful Harding Agricultural Society deep pit barbecue pork and beef supper with all the trimmings, winners of the poker hands were announced: first, Leith Corney second, Amber Raycroft and third, Ross Jay. Winners of the questionnaire were the Robin Hill family.

Rivers Police: Mid-year statistics

Rivers Police Service had 44 calls for service in June, giving us a six-month total of 423 files so far in 2016 or an average of 70 cases each month, meaning June was relatively quiet.
