Neepawa’s first taste of winter has left many area residents dealing with the aftermath of heavy wet snow and icy roads. A major snowfall, caused by a low-pressure system over North Dakota, blanketed most of southern Manitoba early in the week, creating a snowfall warning for many parts of the province.

While 16,000 people packed the MTS Centre for WE Day on Nov. 18, the previous evening’s event was a little more intimate. Prior to WE Day, 150 students and teachers were invited to special dinner honouring the province’s most giving schools and students. NACI’s HOPE group, which has donated $25,000 to global projects and another $10,000 to local projects in recent year, was invited.

WE Day inspires NACI students

It was a day of inspiration for the 60 NACI students who attended this year’s WE Day. Organized by WE (formerly Free the Children), We Day celebrates youth making a difference both locally and globally. The event fills a stadium and combines the energy of a live concert, with inspirational speakers sharing stories of leadership and change.
Prairie Mountain Health paramedics honoured

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) congratulates four paramedics from the region who were recently recognized with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Exemplary Service Medal that was presented by the lieutenant-governor of Manitoba, Janice FIlmon. The medal, created in July 1994, recognizes professionals in the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical services to the public, who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner — characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.
