Church chatter - Nov. 4

Rivers United Church has been a busy place this fall. The semi-annual indoor garage sale held in late September continues to be very successful. It is quite an undertaking to put on an event such as this; Lynn Madden and her crew are to be commended on a job well done! As well, thank yous are extended to Shirley Kamula, Dianne Kowalchuk and the many hands that contributed to the success of the fall supper held in mid-October.

Several ladies from the choir and congregation joined together to perform a special ladies anthem on Oct. 29. The preparation and offering of Christmas anthems is always a favourite time of year for choir members.

Women of the congregation and community are welcome for Coffee and Conversation on Tuesday Nov. 15 in Friendship Hall at 2 p.m. Bring your favourite mug!

The monthly board meeting will also take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The date for Advent decorating has not been set yet but will be later in November.

Sunday school will be held Nov. 20 instead of the regular second Sunday. Leaders Shelley Foster and Becky Stewart are creating and producing a White Gift children’s service for early December. All children are welcome to attend and encouraged to attend practices. Please stay tuned for more information; Sunday school parents should check for email updates.

Remembrance Day is Friday, Nov.11. Let us forever be thankful for the sacrifices made for us. Respect the meaning of the poppy. Thank a veteran. Pray for peace.
