Country Meadows Personal Care Home

It has been busy out at Country Meadows. We have had many fall programs with more still to come.

We are excited to partner up again with Mrs. Sheila Bremner and the Beautiful Plains School Division to offer Rhyme Time. Rhyme Time is an intergenerational preschool program. The young participants sure bring a lot of life and joy to our multi-purpose room. Along with the residents, the children do rhymes and actions together, play games, make a craft and enjoy a morning snack together. Thank you to Mrs. Bremner for making this program possible.

The Grade 5 Seniors Teaching Juniors program will start up again Nov. 4. This was a great success last year and we are looking forward to their visits again this year. The program will be every Friday afternoon. The students are put into groups with the seniors, where the seniors teach the youth different activities. Some of the activities are cribbage, whist, baking, knitting and embroidery to name a few.

Christmas is sneaking up fast, and we are busy planning our Christmas programs. One event coming up is our Resident Family Council Christmas Shopping Spree. The sale is in our multi-purpose room on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be vendor tables set up for residents, families, visitors and staff to shop at. Anyone is welcome to attend. If you’re interested in having a table to sell your products, please call Marsha Forgue at 204-476-7815. At the sale, the resident family council will have a raffle prize table set up as well. The activity department will have a coffee shop set up where you can purchase coffee or tea and baking items to enjoy as you relax after all your shopping.

The activity department is excited about a new fundraiser they have done, with the proceeds to go towards our resident’s handivan outings in the future. It is a 2017 resident photo calendar. The calendars will be ready to purchase in the next week. They are $20.00 and available at the front office or through the activity department. We will be setting up a table as well at the Christmas shopping spree to sell the calendars. I would like to thank everyone for their support in all the fundraising events we do for our residents. It is very appreciated by the staff and residents. Country Meadows sure loves their outings to all the various places and it is made possible with such great community support and generosity. Country Meadows hopes everyone is enjoying their fall and we look forward to seeing people out at our sale.
