M. Baronie has provided another bus for the convenience of his customers to and from railway stations. It is quite an outstanding vehicle, bright orange in colour and it has a good seating capacity.

Miss Margaret E. Goodman, of Wellwood, MB, has been awarded the General Proficiency Scholarship amounting to $100 for her work in first year Arts and Science at Brandon College. In addition, Miss Goodman won the $50 M. M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship in English, provided by the Western Motors Ltd. and the $100 J. B. Whitehead Memorial Scholarship, provided by the Brandon Daily Sun. To qualify for these scholarships, the student must have the highest first-class standing in the subject open for competition. Miss Goodman has shown high scholastic ability to have earned more than one.

Word was received Tuesday of this week of the death of Harold Kellough, 41, a former resident of Neepawa. Mr. Kellough, who is the son of the late Oscar Kellough, a former CPR agent here and Mrs. Kellough of Winnipeg, died as a result of a plane crash in the ice fields north of Prince Rupert, BC.
Well-known to many local residents, he attended Neepawa schools and upon graduation, trained at Stevenson’s Field under Connie Johannsen. Following his training, he flew for one year in England and after returning home, continued to fly in Canada. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Queen Charlotte Airlines, stationed in Prince Rupert.

Liberal Nelson Shoemaker won a resounding victory in Gladstone constituency Thursday, as the results for the entire province showed only slight change. It was his fourth victory since 1958.
Shoemaker wound up with 2,895 votes, compared to his nearest opponent Dr. Jack McPhedran, who counted 1,772. NDP’er Bill Yuel took only 234 votes.

An additional 30,000 KVA transformer being installed at the Manitoba Hydro terminal station on #4 highway east of Neepawa will double that station’s present capacity.
The new transformer is being installed prior to the 1976-77 winter peak load.

It’s been nearly a year, but Neepawa is one step closer to enlargement of its boundaries to include property east of town.
The provincial municipal board held public hearings June 20 to determine whether annexation of land belonging to Springhill Farms to the town would be possible.
The three-man board hearing submissions from Neepawa secretary-treasurer Dale Lyle and Rural Municipality of Langford Reeve, Merv Drayson. A total of nine people attended the hearing, and there were no objections to the annexation.

Darrell Reid is in Toronto today finalizing an agreement that will bring a Dairy Queen Brazier restaurant to Neepawa.
The franchise agreement with Dairy Queen is one step in a complex deal that is likely to also result in the construction of a Pizza Hut franchise on an adjoining lot at the corner of 5th Avenue and Main Street in Neepawa.
Reid says he will sign a franchise agreement with Dairy Queen either today or later this week.

The town of Neepawa is focusing on developing a photo bank, along with the towns of Gladstone, Carberry and Minnedosa and RMs of Rosedale, Lansdowne and North Cypress.
Neepawa Economic Development Officer Clinton Mutch said Airscapes Aerial Photography will be taking photos of the above areas during the next two weeks.
“We plan on using them for promotional purposes in the short-term, but they could also be used for real estate planning, historical archiving – even reminiscing,” Mutch said.
