A construction update occurred recently to the interior of Prairie Crocus Regional Library in Rivers. It involved joining the two storage rooms to make a wheelchair-accessible main floor washroom. Ramsay Construction was the main contractor and he enlisted B&G Electric and Gill’s Plumbing & Heating to assist; all companies are from Rivers.

The main floor facility is being enjoyed by all ages who were previously required to make use of an upstairs commode by climbing 14 steep and narrow stairs. The new $26,000 convenience is debt-free through a Canadian government Enabling Accessibility fund of some $17,000 and a $1,000 grant from Rivers & Area Community Foundation. Librarian Sherri Dziver is pleased to  note the remaining $8,000 has been paid through local fundraising and donations dating back to 2014.
