RCMP execute search warrant

On Thursday morning, Amaranth RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Sandy Bay First Nation.

Portage la Prairie RCMP, Portage la Prairie Police Dog Section, Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit, RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP West District Containment Team and the National Weapon Enforcement Support Team assisted in the search.
 
As a result of the search, various types of ammunition and 18 long guns were seized, three of which were confirmed to have been stolen.
 
John Elliott Spence, 33, was arrested and has been charged with 18 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, four counts of possession property obtained by crime, four counts of possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence.

Spence remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg provincial court today.
 
Charges are pending against another adult male and two adult females. No further information is available. Police continue to investigate.
