For voters in the Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa riding, there will be a change in government, but not locally. In the local riding, incumbent Conservatives candidate Robert Sopuck was re-elected with a strong majority.

Sopuck lead polls throughout most of the evening, except for briefly when Liberal candidate Ray Piche lead the lead.

Federally, it will be a Liberal government lead by Justin Trudeau. The Liberal Party took the lead in Atlantic Canada and held on to it as polls closed across the country. By 9:30 p.m. local time, a Liberal majority was declared.

The Liberals entered the election with just 34 seats from the 2011 election.
