On Dec 20, Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament Dauphin—Swan River— Marquette, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding, under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF), to the Town for Erickson for improvements to the Erickson Campground.
“Located close to Riding Mountain National Park, the Erickson Campground is a popular amenity for visitors to the region,” said MP Sopuck. “By helping to improve important infrastructure, like this campground, our Government is contributing to more vibrant and prosperous Canadian communities.”
The federal funding of $22,797 will go towards upgrading 10 campsites to make them fully serviced with electricity, water and sewer access. The investment means the campground will better serve users, and will help increase visitors to the region.
“The Town of Erickson and our Campground Committee are delighted to be chosen as recipients of a Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund grant,” said Mayor Val Soltys. “This critical support will allow us to proceed with improvements to our campground, resulting in the provision of services to 10 additional campsites. These improvements will enhance the enjoyment of the facility by attendees of local events and by visitors to our community.”
CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.
