A spring issue of Rivers Banner announced “preliminary site preparations” for an addition to Riverdale Health Centre on April 16, but it wasn’t until mid-June that Horizon Builders Ltd. of Brandon began obvious work there.

The lawn east of the main entrance doors has been temporarily fenced, the hole dug and the foundation for the 30- by 50-foot addition poured. Termed a mutli-purpose room, it will be a private dining room and activities area, complete with TV, fridge, stove, microwave, washroom and electrical room.

Rivers Health Action Committee has committed $300,000 toward the project, which was estimated to cost $612,966; the rest of the cost will be funded by Manitoba Health. It is expected that the addition will be completed by fall.
