The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission recently announced that the Neepawa access channel NAC-TV is deemed ineligible for support from the Small Market Local Production Fund.

The Commission received an application by NAC-TV requesting that the Neepawa channel be eligible for support for the funding.

In a release issued by the CRTC on Dec. 4, the CRTC noted several factors as to why the application was denied. One reason was due to NAC-TV indicating to the CRTC that the additional funding from the fund would "not be used to support local programming but rather to upgrade its facilities and provide more regional programming". The CRTC went on to state that, "In the commission’s view, the current application is inconsistent with the rationale for the fund".
