Happy birthday Jim!

Jim Wood marked his 93rd birthday on Thursday, April 23 with family members, relatives, friends and fellow residents at Riverdale Personal Care Home.

Refreshments were served by staff while everyone visited. There was a brief lull when it was time to cut the cake as the candles were reversed to claim Jim as 39 “and holding”; they were quickly switched to the proper 93 before the cake was cut. Music was supplied by Ken (guitar/soloist) and Jean Young (piano). Percy Rosamond, friend and fellow Bradwardine district neighbour of Jim’s, also took a turn at tickling the piano ivories.

Jim thanked everyone who attended and helped make his birthday such a pleasure. He recalled that he was chairman of Riverdale Hospital Board in January 1981 and had performed the sod-turning ceremony for the new 20-bed care home. He had no foresight then that he would one day (34 years later) be a resident in that same establishment he now calls home.
