In 2012 Grayson Williams of Rivers participated in the Earth Rangers Program and reached his goal of raising $1,000 in three weeks to help protect a bird called the wood thrush. He was the first person to reach this goal and be awarded the title Earth Ranger Ambassador! Earth Rangers is a Canadian kid-based fundraising program with its headquarters in Ontario.

This year Grayson has chosen to raise money for the eastern wolf. This wolf lives in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario. The money raised will be used to track the single known pack and study its migration. Also it will provide funds to investigate a possible secondary pack living in the park. All of the animals Earth Rangers raises money for are endangered or at risk.

Grayson will be selling cake pops at Rivers Elementary School on Thursday, April  30 and Thursday, May 7 at noon hour. Grayson will also be going door to door canvassing to help reach his goal of $1,000. If you don’t live in town but would like to contribute, there are donation jars located throughout Rivers. If you would like to make an online donation to Grayson's eastern wolf campaign, you can do so at www.earthrangers.com and click on donate (top right corner). You will then be prompted to "Find a Ranger"; Grayson's Ranger ID number is 56151111. You will then be able to click on Grayson's Eastern Wolf Campaign. Please note that to keep all participating children safe, no names are included on the site, strictly their Ranger ID. Earth Rangers provides tax receipts for donations of $10 or more.
