RCMP respond to shots fired at crop duster

On Wednesday, Portage RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired at a crop duster airplane.

Initial investigation revealed that shots were fired at a crop duster as it was conducting an aerial spray of a field in the RM of Portage near Fortier, Man.

The plane was hit, causing damage to the side and bottom of the aircraft. No injuries were reported in the incident.

After further investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residence and the outbuildings in the RM of Portage. As a result of the search, a firearm and ammunition were seized.

Luc Arnal, 51, of the RM of Portage, has been charged with discharge a firearm, mischief over $5,000, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and endangering an aircraft. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Winnipeg on July 11.

Police continue to investigate.
