Seven people face drug-related charges after police raids

A home in Sandy Bay and a business in Amaranth were searched by police early Friday morning in raids looking for drugs.

Approximately 14 grams of cocaine was found and seized in the home, along with a sum of cash as well as paraphernalia and a cell phone from the business.

Seven people from Sandy Bay First Nation now face drug-related charges – six of whom have been charged with possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and have been released from custody with a court date of June 17.

The seventh person was held in custody over the weekend and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate the matter.
