The Yellowhead Bowhunters club has re-emerged in Neepawa.

The recreational archery group, which has been on and off again in the community for several years, has restarted and will hold get-togethers once a week.

The club held a meeting recently to gauge interest which attracted approximately 20 members and it looks as though there could be more people joining in the near future.

"I have talked to a lot more who weren't able to make it [meeting]," said club member Keith Wrightson. "There is quite a few people around the area who do enjoy shooting a bow."

For the time being until the snow melts, the club will be shooting at the Neepawa Junior Rifle Club (Suite A-600, Fourth Avenue) from 7-9 p.m. every Wednesday night. The club will move to the Neepawa outdoor range in the summer months (located north of Brahma's Grill and Steakhouse).

Wrightson, a longtime member of the club, had to move away for work purposes, but has since returned to Neepawa. A valued member of the organization who has his entire family involved, says the group ranges in age and includes several youth members.

"Anyone who is interested can come out and try it," said Wrightson. "If you're even interested in learning how to do it or seeing if they will like to do it, they're more than welcome to come out."

There are several bowhunting clubs in the province. Minnedosa, Birtle, Dauphin, Portage and Brandon are just some of the communities who have a club.
