In early February, the Brookdale School Parent Council is holding a meeting to provide information about the school to Neepawa parents, hoping to increase enrolment at the school. Brookdale School Parent Council president Becky Szucki said that they have received support from the Beautiful Plains School Division board to provide a bus to run from Neepawa to Brookdale for the 2014-2015 school year if there are enough families interested.

The division has said they would need about 20 children to make a bus feasible. The division has also said that a bus could run to JM Young School in Eden if a minimum of 20 students complete a school of choice request to attend the school.

On Feb. 3, the parent council of Brookdale School will be providing information about the school and what it can offer.

“Our goal is not to promote one school over another, but rather promote the uniqueness of our small school experience. We believe there are parents interested in this choice from Neepawa area, but transportation has been one factor in moving forward with the school of choice process,” said Szucki.

The informational session will take place a 7 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the Neepawa Library MPR.
