While there are still some plans to be finalized, the development of 67 acres at the south-west corner of Minnedosa is one step closer. While there are still some design schedules and conceptual layout designs to be completed and attached to the development agreement, the text of the agreement has been finalized.

The land in question is 67 acres south of 9th Ave., the town’s most southern east/west street.  The land will accommodate about 12 residential lots and will be developed by a local group.  Orr said that it’s expected to be developed as a mix of modular, single family and possibly multi-family housing.

The conceptual layout will include the plans for streets as well as the number of housing units to be built. Once the development agreement is completed, subdividing the land into residential lots will begin.

Minnedosa mayor Ray Orr said that at the beginning of this council’s term, developing this land was their No. 1 priority. “We’re running out of lots for people to buy,” he said. The process began with the town acquiring the land, then rezoning it for residential development. Orr said that getting the project to this point has taken quite a bit of work and he thanked town staff for their time and effort working on the project.

The town is now ready to pass the land on to the developer. “We’re pleased it’s a local group [developing the land],” Orr concluded.
