Les Misérables coming to Brandon

The musical "Les Misérables" is coming to Brandon.

The musical, which will involve 7 Ages Productions in cooperation with Mecca Productions, will take place Thursday, Jan. 23 to Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. The stage show is about the life and adventures of Jean Valjean in 19th century France. Valjean, imprisoned in the galleys for years for stealing a loaf of bread, is finally paroled and is saved from being re-arrested by a kindly bishop who vows to turn Valjean's life around.

The musical has been filmed many times and was eventually produced by Cameron Mackintosh as a stage musical. It set records on London and Broadway and has only recently been available for amateur groups.
