Earlier this month, between 1,000 and 1,500 Neepawa residents showed up to support Operation Christmas Blessing, a community fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Organizer Leanne Crammond said that support exceeded their expectations and called the support "phenomenal".

In total, $18,900 was raised at the event, which took place Dec. 7. The money will be donated to the Red Cross and will be matched by the Canadian government.

Approximately $1,700 of that was raised through a 50/50 with NACI students raising more than $1,000.
