Rivers 4-H Beef Club held its annual rally day on Saturday, June 5 at Rivers fairgrounds. The day began with weighing the animals; this is a very important part of the day! It allows each member to see how much weight their steer has gained from the start of the project until rally day. This is recorded as the steer’s average daily gain.

Following weighing, members formed groups according to their age. They visited stations, such as judging, showmanship and animal nutrition. The day concluded with a potluck lunch, dessert contest and monthly meeting.

The club was given the itinerary for when the Metcalfe 4-H Club arrives. Activities include visiting Kenossee Water Park, Austin Museum and Thresherman’s Village, Riding Mountain National Park and Souris’ swinging bridge. The Metcalfe Club arrives July 5 and returns home July 13.

Rivers 4-H Beef Club will hold its achievement at Rivers fair on July 6. Members will show their steers, heifers and continuation heifers. The steer sale will begin at 7 p.m.
