Weed notes - Apr. 24

I am not sure which airport it happened at, but apparently this week a 70-year-old lady was screened after appearing quite nervous. Behind closed doors and upon once searching, authorities found marijuana in her girdle and briefs! I wonder what charge will be laid and how severe it will be? Will it be as high as that same lady spraying a single dandelion in her yard this year? With the no-common-sense thought process Conservation has on the ban, probably both cases will be a ridiculous amount!

On Monday, April 20 the office staff (MAFRD, and MASC) gave, as a total surprise to me, a goodbye dinner for me upon my retiring at the end of this month. Excellently planned by Gwenda Skayman, present and past members sat down to a delicious meal at the newly-opened Chinese restaurant in Hamiota. Allan Preston, a close friend and neighbouring office member, gave a super, not too “roasty” presentation to me. Gwenda then presented me with a three-piece luggage set and a unique travel theme package with it. Kelvin Tiller presented me with a garden pot filled with peat moss and five mysterious weed seeds already planted. I was instructed to water the pot and within minutes, almost miraculously, they emerged out of the pot! As it has been at least 15 years since I had seen this weed, I had to think for a minute before remembering. The restaurant owner came and looked at the plants; she recognised them immediately! She called her husband to look at them and with a bit of translation, I learned he still uses them in certain situations. Rather than revealing in this publication what the “plants” were, I am hoping readers will ask me instead.
