The Oak River Bearcats are the Manitoba ‘AA’ baseball champions. The team, who co-hosted the U-18 midget provincials last weekend, were able to go undefeated in the round robin and playoffs on their way to securing the title. The Bearcats closed out the perfect weekend with a 15-1 win in the final against La Broquerie.
Therapy dog shares smiles with local hospitals

Patients in the Brandon Regional Health Centre, and now the Neepawa Health Centre, may have seen a large St. Bernard walking around the hospitals accompanied by a man. The dog’s name is Grizzly and along with his owner and handler Mark Saler, he’s been spending his time cheering up patients in hospitals.
River Police warn of CRA phone scam

Rivers phone numbers have been inundated with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam calls. Rivers Police Service would like to inform members of our community this phone scam has been running rampant in our area for the last six weeks. Callers claim to be a CRA representative and often cite a warrant has been issued for your arrest if you do not call the return number.
Neepawa Blue Dolphins begin swim season

The Neepawa Blue Dolphins are back in the pool and this year, they have 49 participants. To start off the season, Richelle Forgue, Bryce Kwiatkowski and Robyn Newsome attended the Summer Games selections, held on June 25 in Selkirk. The club would like to congratulate Bryce Kwiatkowski on making the Westman team and Robyn Newsome for being selected as a second alternate.
