While Matt Kohlman put in a 46 save effort for Gladstone, he and the Lakers still fell 9-6 to Kyle McDonald & the Neepawa Farmers on Friday, Mar. 9. McDonald had three points (2G - 1A) on the night.

A disastrous series of events, some self inflicted, ended up costing the Gladstone Lakers the third game of their Tiger Hills Hockey League eastern division series against the Neepawa Farmers. Gladstone surrendered seven goals in the last 20 minutes of action at the Yellowhead Arena on Friday, Mar. 9, to lose 9-6.

A conversation with a good friend started a deeper introspection of one of the theories I embrace. You know the old illustration used to remind us that none of us are indispensable; place your hand in a body of water, remove, and see that all is the same even without your presence? I don’t agree. The moment my/your hand touches the water there is an irreversible change in the liquid. Hence, no matter how brief our presence is in any given situation, we have generated a change.

This week’s recipe is dedicated to a special person that was taken away suddenly in a tragic accident. Mary Anne Nylen was a true friend who made time for people. She shared her baking, energy and wonderfully positive attitude towards life with everyone. Her beautiful smile and laughter will be sadly missed. Mary Anne hooked me on to spelt. She gave me this recipe after I tasted her delicious cookies this winter.
